There are many milestones in a young person’s life, the culmination of which is the transition into adulthood. While the recognition of this varies among countries, cultures and religions, the Jewish faith acknowledges adulthood at the age of 12 for girls and 13 for boys, in a bat or bar mitzvah, respectively. It is a time of much celebration but also of accepting more responsibility and privileges. The ceremony itself traditionally includes a reading from the Torah and the bat or bar mitzvah may conduct the majority of the service or sermon. Without a doubt, it wouldn’t surprise anyone that this momentous occasion is marked by a team of butterflies in stomaches and a bit of frazzled nerves! Conducted at Har Zion Temple<\/a> in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania, Samantha completed her service with grace, poise and confidence as these beautiful portraits demonstrate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
