A few years ago, I was honored to have been chosen to shoot the global advertising campaign for the Nikon D800 camera. At the time, it was a revolutionary piece of equipment. This camera boasted a 36 megapixel sensor, a facial recognition system for focusing, facial recognition for exposure, and image quality that was unprecedented for a digital single lens reflex.
Photographing weddings at Ashford Estate in Allentown New Jersey has always been fantastic because of all of the different opportunities on the expansive grounds of this estate. Whenever I see wedding photos at Ashford Estate they seem to stand out from other venues in the area. Ashford estate was the perfect place for me to take the entire production crew to produce several images for the Nikon D 800 brochure.
Part of the challenge for the campaign was to demonstrate the capabilities of this new amazing piece of technology. One of the things I had to demonstrate was the cameras capability to handle harsh lighting conditions. I need this picture at approximately 1 p.m. in the afternoon and as you can see there is nothing harsh about the results. The camera performed beautifully, and because I put the sun behind our subject I was able to produce a beautiful portrait at Ashford Estate with this amazing camera.
