This image is from a recent branding session for Jeanne Ruddy, an incredibly accomplished dancer, teacher, and founder of the Performance Garage in Philadelphia. Jeanne is a former principal dancer with the Martha Graham company and was a faculty member at Juilliard for a decade. The Performance Garage is an impressive, intimate, 100-seat theater dedicated to supporting dance artists, companies, educators, and choreographers.
Jeanne hired me to update her headshots for her website and social media, and I felt that environmental portraits in her theater would show off her brand more creatively than portraits in my studio. This portrait features Jeanne in front of a series of performance photos; the image on the left is Jeanne dancing many years ago.
