As a Philadelphia based wedding photographer, I always enjoy the opportunity to take my vision to other parts of the country, and also the world. This image was taken just a few minutes after we did the bridal party photos and couples portraits at the Lincoln Memorial
It was imperative that the Washington DC wedding planner secure the permits for wedding photography at the Lincoln Memorial, just in case we were approached by the park rangers there.
We had a crystal clear day with some amazing light, and as we were leaving the National Park Service area, I had the bus pull over because the timing was perfect for a portrait with the Potomac River in the background. This is a gorgeous place to shoot, and I was thrilled with the variety of scenarios I was able to utilize for the bridal portraits.
With the Washington Monument on one end, and the Lincoln Memorial on the other, we had a blast during this magic hour, and the light couldn’t have been better.
I shot most of these images with my Nikon D4S with my AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8, and my AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8 lenses. This image was shot at 24mm, and I really like the way the trees have produced a wonderful texture to the photo. The couple is sihouetted under the setting sun, and the image has an ethereal feel to it. It’s probably my favorite images taken at a recent Washington DC wedding at the Hotel Monaco.
