I often hear from workshop students of their reluctance to utilize the natural light in a setting. Knowing your equipment and feeling comfortable blending into an environment all inherently come with experience, but it doesn't mean you should shy away from the readily available light in any given situation. Had I used off camera flash, the intimacy of this image of a tearful bride with her mother, would be completely lost. The nuance of the light and shadow dancing between the two; the mother in shadow, the bride silhouetted against the light of the window builds on an already emotionally saturated frame.
