This image was captured during a winter wedding at The Bellevue, and we had the chance to travel down to Kelly Drive. We drove along the water coming from their church in Manayunk, and I couldn’t help but notice the amazing light coming from the setting sun over the water. It was a winter wedding in February – not exactly pleasant "strolling the river" weather. Regardless, this couple was adventurous, and they wanted the best possible photos, so they happily posed for this photograph.
I’ve always loved this portrait, and the directional light facing our bride here is exceptional. The groom in the background is out of focus thanks to a shallow depth of field. He was compressed with my Nikkor 70-20mm F2.8 lens, and it was fully racked out at 200mm for maximum compression. After we made a few images along the Schuylkill River, we headed back for the wedding reception at the Hyatt at the Bellevue.
