I’ve had the privilege and the opportunity to photograph many weddings at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey. The photographic opportunities are everywhere you look. Whether it's the sprawling, beautifully manicured grounds, or the unusual sculptures from amazing artists throughout the facility, or simply just the beautiful light juxtaposed against the gorgeous trees, it seems I'm always able to make beautiful images at this venue.
Wedding photography at Grounds for Sculpture is a treat for me since the entire wedding day— the preparation, ceremony, portraiture, and reception — are all held within the confines of this beautiful property.
This image, taken during the first look on their wedding day, was shot with my Nikon D4S, Nikkor 70-200mm lens, and I used the beauty of the harsh midday sun to backlight my bride and groom. The emotions are quite real.
The first look at Grounds for Sculpture wedding can be set in many different locations. The choices are endless, and I chose this location because of the direction of the light.
Their ceremonies are held in a beautiful open air amphitheater that looks like ancient ruins. The sun drenches the area in gorgeous late daylight, and the ambiance is spectacular.
The receptions at Grounds for Sculpture are usually held in Rats Restaurant on-site, and their food is exquisite. If you’re looking for a venue that has it all, I believe that the Grounds for Sculpture will provide you with everything you could ask from a wedding venue. It’s hard to believe that we’re still in New Jersey!
